What a difference a month (or almost 2) makes!
I just read back my last 2 posts...and BOY oh BOY! I'm happy to report that we are not there anymore!
Eva's ulcers are 100% GONE. They left behind extensive scarring but she is no longer in pain or on any pain meds! We go back to Sick Kids every 6 weeks as opposed to every week!! They will do all of her plastic surgery when she is 4 and have it completed by the time she starts kindergarten. Hopefully we don't run into psychosocial issues before then but if we do, Sean and I are strong enough and will ensure that she strong enough to deal with it. We see it as a part of her. Like her beautiful blue eyes, or her sweet lips. And we will ensure that she isn't self conscious of it.
She is also a full-time walker. She doesn't crawl anymore :-(
She has 8 front teeth, with all 4 molars just about to erupt.
I am proud to say she is still breastfed too!
And because she is "well" - she is sleeping. She goes down between 7:30-8pm each night and wakes between 6:30-7:30am. She also has 2 naps a day (9am and 1:30pm)
We are on a set schedule and I love it! Sean and I have "our time" back in the evening and I have time to get stuff done throughout the day.
Cuylers birthday went well. It was still a teeny tiny bit bittersweet but he had great fun at his bowling birthday.
We are slowly getting back on track with all of his "stuff". We took him back to the naturopath and put him on a new remedy which seems to have eased alot of his social axiety.
We started a new program called "Handle". Sounds a bit hokey/granola but we have a lot of faith that this will help him. It's a holistic approach to learning and we work through alot of sesnory issues - slowly. It treats the autism from a neurological standpoint rather than behavioural (much like the RDI).
We decided to treat the autism as a brain injury as that's where we believe the dx stems from. The lack of 02 at his birth. We know that people can recover from brain injuries. It's a long road and a slow process...but he IS making progress. If we can continue on this slow progression I will be happy.
Christmas was really great. Two years ago I hated Christmas. It was depressing. Cuyler had no clue. No intrest and was kind of a miserable kid.
Fast forward to this year - he loved it! Was excited, ripping open his gifts exclaiming things like "Ohhhh! A flashlight! It's beeee-ooo-tiful!"
