RDI - here we come.
We have set up a meeting on Friday evening with the woman who will be our consultant. Hopefully I'll feel more grounded with the whole thing after we meet with her. The dvd, which is 5hrs long, was full of great information - but alot of information. Too much almost. It seems like such a complex remediation. But I know that we will only be doing very specific stages at any given time.
One motto of RDI is "It is a marathon, not a sprint"
I think what I have taken most from the dvd is a real knowledge of what autism is. Not what it looks like or the symptoms of autism - but what it actually is. The deficits. And with that, I find I know Cuyler a bit better. Some of the things about him are not so mysterious, some of his behaviours don't seem as weird or quirky.
And I'm much more clear on what RDI is. In a nutshell - it will teach Cuyler how to think, not just how to behave.
My manager at work has offered to do some fundraising specific for Cuyler's RDI, which I am grateful for. We are having a big garage sale at the end of April and Sean's looking into a golf tournament. So we should have a busy, fun and productive spring/summer.

Everyone is better. Just about anyways. I've got the tail end of a sinus cold. Cuyler is back - appetite and all. I can't feed him enough.
Cam was fevered again after school yesterday. It was bizarre - he just crashed as soon as he got home and spiked a fever after being fever-free for a day. He was fine today, albeit cranky. Hopefully he'll be fine tomorrow. He has a field trip that I've volunteered to go on. I'd hate to have to cancel.

Hi,

I'd like to get some information about where you're doing RDI as I'm from Ontario too. Would you be willing to pm me? I notice you don't have an email. Mine is patience@passport.ca.
