Yesterday sucked and it had nothing to do with the kids. They were great. And they actually made it "suck less" because they are such wonderful kids.
My sister called to tell me that they had to put their yellow lab, Rory, down. He was almost 14 - so he lived a long life. Sean and I aren't "pet people" but he was just as much a part of the family as their kids are. Cam has never said his prayers without including Rory. He said last night that he will always say "And God bless Sarah, Myles and Rory."
I knew Rory was really slowing down, but I just didn't expect that call. We sure will miss him. This was Rory at our place celebrating Cuyler's 2nd birthday with us:
And driving home from work last night Sean was hit from behind. Sean then hit the car in front of him. Thank God nobody was injured. His car has some front and rear-end damage. Nothing that can't be repaired.
Every time the phone rang after that, I couldn't help but think that shitty things happen in three's.
Luckily we all went to bed healthy and safe, but still sad about poor Rory.

What a sweet picture. And 14 years...wow, he did live a nice, long life. I'm sure he's having a blast in Doggy Heaven. :)
We almost lost one of our dogs a couple weeks ago. The doctor gave him cortisone which will only work for 3-6 months at which point we'll have to make a very tough decision. :(
Hi,
I like your writing style. I am from Toronto, and a few months ago Salome suggested I contact you! As you may know only too well, I am somewhat frustrated with the long waiting lists we face at every turn. My son is 27 mos. old and recently diagnosed. I just need to learn the ropes and was hoping you could provide some of invaluable info. I hope you get this message, I am not sure how to contact someone via a blog. I am not sure if I should post my email on this post.
Best wishes!

Thanks for including Rory in you blog. He really was a great, great dog. Myles (9 yrs) said that we lost 20% of our family when he died. We used to be five and now we are four. I sure feel that something big is missing when I get home from work and nobody else is home. He didn't like the hardwood floors much in the last six month of his life so he spent a lot of time with me in the kitchen. It will be a long time before all our little habits (ie, cooking him a pancake, putting the stems from mushrooms into his bowl - he LOVED mushrooms) leave me. Thanks for letting people know about the lives he touched. Love your big sis, Ang
Eeks, poor Sean!
And I am sorry about Rory. You knwo I feel the pain.
