Tonight I want to photoBlog. So I will...

For those who are not entirely sure what visual stimming is...this is what it looks like:

I have come to realize that I purposely post the pictures in which he does not look at all autistic. For the most part, he doesn't. But he does do alot of visual stimming like this. And vocal stimming, where he just makes alot of nonsensical sounds with his voice.
This is what he was doing in between floating the crayons above or in front of his eyes:

We got a head start on the class Valentine cards. It was alot of fun. I'd say "Ohhh I like red best!" And Cuy would pick up red and colour. Then I'd say "Purple is soooo pretty!" Then he'd pick up purple and say "Purple pretty" Then I'd say something about blue or green and he'd colour with the blue or green.

Cam did some of his as well. He was psyched that I allowed him to use a pen.

After Cuyler's bath tonight I was massaging his legs and feet. I stopped and he thrust his foot out to me. I said "You want more massage." He broke out into his full-belly laugh and said "Ma-sausages!" This continued throughout the night and every time he said it, the word produced such a laugh from him, he either got the hiccups or did little throw up burps.

And last night I was out, and Sean managed to capture a couple of nice images. These are the moments that ASD parents are referring to when we say that the little things not celebrated or given much notice to with typical children are huge milestones for us. These are the small things that give us joy and that stand out in our day. Such a simple photo of 2 little boys brushing their teeth before bed. But meant so much for us to see it.

Another thing I want to add (simply for me to remember) is yesterday as I folded the boys laundry, I was folding a pair of Cams underwear. Cuyler grabbed it and said "Unnawear" I said "Yes...that's Cam's underwear."
He proceeded to take his pants off (all by himself). He then walked over to me and said "Diaper off." I undid one tab and he slid the diaper off. He handed me the underwear and said "Unnawear ON!"
Ummm...okay! I helped him put the underwear on and he wore them for about 10 minutes. He slid them off, handed them to me and said "Unnawear peepee."
Yep. They were wet. I left him with a bare bum and I brought the potty down that we recently bought for him and every 10 minutes or so, he'd go and stand in front of it and say "Peepee potty!"
So he may be toilet trained one day after all. My goal now is to have him toilet trained by the time he's 4. Cam was toilet trained in less than a week when he was 26 months old...so this 3 year old still in a diaper is driving me nuts.

**Job update. It may not be so bad. MAY. I've been working out and found a class I really enjoyed so I'm starting feel better physically. They have apologized and said that they were quite unprepared for the amount of children our club has seen and that they are trying to re-arrange some schedules to alleviate the numbers. Yesterday and today were far better than Monday and Tuesday (15 yesterday, 21 today staggered with a volunteer in each day). I'll give it a few more weeks. I'd still like to see the room capped to a maximum number of kids. If that can happen - I'll be more comfortable to stay on.

Love the pictures. Something about a kid in his jammies- I just want to hug and kiss Cuy! And the boys brushing their teeth- I get it. I took a picture of my boys both on Henry's bed, looking at the zoo map taped on the wall. It's on the old-fashioned camera, so it will be awhile 'til I post it, but I was so excited to catch them doing something just normal, together.

Oh I'm SO excited for you! Yes, the pics of the boys brushing their teeth are not only absolutely adorable, but SUCH a huge deal! Cuy's doing great. He sees what his big brother's doing and wants to be just like him. Fabulous. You'll have him potty trained soon, no worries.

The pics of the visual stimming are wonderful. As much as we see our kids doing it, it's always interesting to see another child doing it...I suppose to analyze, compare, comiserate, share, I don't know, but you get what I mean, right?

You have fabulous boys and a great Hub. Good luck with the job. It sounds like it will smooth out.
